It’s a case of one day at a time for stricken Nick Blackwell as the ex-British middleweight champion continues his recovery from a second brain injury. The 26 year-old is making slow progress after undergoing surgery on the back of an unsanctioned sparring session in November last year. Blackwell has already made startling progress from time spent in a coma last March following a loss to Chris Eubank Jr. before taking several blows against doctors wishes months later.

Hearn: “Brook vs Spence Jr could be held at Bramall Lane”

Kell Brook's IBF title defence against Errol Spence Jr could be held at Bramall Lane in the champion's hometown, says promoter Eddie Hearn. A deal for Brook to defend his IBF welterweight title against mandatory challenger Spence Jr might be agreed before the end of the week and Hearn has revealed that Sheffield is the "most likely" location for the fight.

WBO junior lightweight champion Vasyl Lomachenko and up-and-coming light heavyweight Oleksandr Gvozdyk started their camps for April 8 fights at the MGM Harbor Arena in Oxon Hill, Maryland. Lomachenko will face WBA belt holder Jason Sosa. Gvozdyk will probably square of with Yunieski Gonzalez of Cuba. January 28 in Las-Vegas on Leo Santa Cruz vs. Carl Frampton undercard Ukrainian lightweight Ivan Redkach (20-2-1, 16 KOs) stopped Demond Brock (13-4-1, 4 KOs) of Kenner, Louisiana. Redkach kept his distance fighting from the southpaw stance as Brock stalked. Brock was cut from a punch in round three and referee Jay Nady warned Brock in round four for leading with his head as Redkach jabbed away and countered. The Ukrainian stopped Brock at 2:30 of the eighth and final round.
