Earlier, the IOC stated that this sport can be excluded from the Olympics because of multiple violations in the work of the International Amateur Boxing Association (AIBA).

"Dear Thomas Bach, my name is Alexander Usyk. I won the gold medal at the 2012 Summer Olympic Games in London in the boxing tournament. Boxing is not just a sport for me, it also made me a man, husband, and father. It taught me how to live and be genuine, which I am very grateful for. "The Olympic Games fulfill me with emotions, because it means a lot of hard work, especially for every boxer - you train a lot, living a dream to achieve greater heights and it makes you move further. "I ask you to reconsider the position and leave the boxing in the program of the Olympic Games 2020. I appeal to support everyone who cares - fans, athletes and just not indifferent people!", wrote Usyk in one of the social networks.

Head of IOC: AIBA has a whole bunch of problems
Feb. 7, 2018, 4:35 a.m.

President of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) Thomas Bach at a press conference said that the International Boxing Association (AIBA) has a number of problems that need to be resolved in the nearest future. Earlier, the Executive Committee of the IOC decided to extend the suspension of AIBA financing, and also demanded from the association to submit a report on the state of affairs in the organization by April 30.

"The decision of the executive committee is absolutely clear and understandable," Bach said. "We want a number of improvements to be made, we want to see explanations on financing, anti-doping and so on. And this is not one problem, it's a whole bunch of problems. When we come to the Youth Olympic Games, the IOC wants to be sure that there is a serious anti-doping program, the judging system should also be at the proper level. "

At the end of last year, the head of AIBA Ching-Kuo Wu resigned after being accused of the deterioration of the financial situation in the organization. His place was taken by the vice-president of the organization Franco Falcinelli, who soon also left this post. Gafur Rakhimov was eventually appointed as an interim president of AIBA.
