WBA and WBO supports the desire of professionals to participate in the Olympic Games

WBA and WBO officially supported  professional boxers seeking to perform at the Olympic Games, while WBC and its president Mauricio Sulaiman threatens professionals who will go out in the ring in Tokyo in 2020 with two-year exception of its ratings.

"I want to express my full support for all professional of Mexico who want to participate in the qualifying tournament for the Olympic Games in Tokyo. WBA ready to give a chance to all professional boxers who are fighting for qualification at the Games, as well as those who will perform there. We wish them all the best in their new goals," the WBA president Gilberto Jesus Mendoza said in a statement. This position of Mendoza (WBA) has also been supported by WBO.

At the moment, we can confidently say that there will be quite a lot of professional boxers and boxers from Mexico, competing in qualifying for the Games. For example, recently WBA champion Anabel Ortiz (30-3, 4 KOs) confirmed his participation. And if we are talking about professionals of other nationalities, there may even be a few dozen, and in this group there are boxers like Filip Hrgovic.
