Paul just beat Mike Tyson in November. The fight got people talking because Tyson is 58 and hasn't boxed in years. Now, Paul's looking for active boxers to fight. He's even mentioned big names like Canelo Alvarez and Gervonta Davis.
Joshua didn't say much at first. He just hinted on social media that they could fight in 2026. But his promoter, Eddie Hearn, had more to say.
"This is the first time I've spoken about the fight. I look at it and I think Jake Paul against Anthony Joshua, we'd do it for the banter. AJ would fight Jake Paul. He'd fight anyone to be honest with you. If Jake Paul wants to step up and fight Anthony Joshua, he'd need the relevant insurance."
Hearn shared these thoughts in a recent interview. He also suggested moving the potential fight up a year.
"The only thing that was disappointing is he says 2026… Do it in 2025 if you really want to do it. You're not going to get much better at this stage. Those two have spoken. I spoke to AJ this morning he said 'of course I'll fight him.'"
Joshua's willingness to fight Paul shows how boxing's changing. More and more, we're seeing pro boxers face internet personalities. Paul's made a name for himself this way, starting with retired fighters and now calling out active champs.
Hearn knows Paul can draw a crowd. He said:
"Jake creates massive events. You know that's going to create unbelievable viewership, and no disrespect to Jake Paul, it's a straightforward night's work. I like this calling out of Canelo and all this, but AJ is another challenge. If they're game why not."
Joshua's got other options too. He could fight Tyson Fury, Deontay Wilder, or Daniel Dubois. But a fight with Paul would certainly get people talking.
For now, it's all talk. But in the world of boxing, you never know what might happen. We'll have to wait and see if this unlikely matchup becomes a reality.
