Chris Eubank Jr and Conor Benn are getting ready to face off on April 26 at Tottenham Hotspur's Stadium. The fight will settle their differences in the ring.
Former middleweight world champion Liam Smith has shared his thoughts on Eubank Jr's knockout power. Smith's opinion comes from his personal experience in two fights against Eubank Jr last year.
Smith and Eubank Jr first met in January 2023 at the Manchester Arena. In that fight, Smith knocked out Eubank Jr in the fourth round. It was the first time Eubank Jr had been dropped and counted out in his career.
Six months later, they fought again. This time, Eubank Jr won by knockout in the 10th round. Smith had trouble making weight for this fight due to a back injury.
Despite the knockout loss, Smith doesn't think much of Eubank Jr's power. In a recent interview with Sky Sports, Smith said:
"It's 1-1, It's not so much the loss, it's more the fact Eubank holds a stoppage win over me and that eats away at me 'cause I don't think he's good enough and I don't think he punches hard enough to stop me."
Smith is now looking to fight the winner of Eubank Jr vs Benn. He's got his own fight coming up on the undercard of that event, facing Aaron McKenna.
Eubank Jr's last fight was a knockout win over Kamil Szeremeta in October. Before his fights with Smith, Eubank Jr was supposed to fight Conor Benn in October 2022. That fight got cancelled, and some think the weight loss for that bout might have affected Eubank Jr in his first fight with Smith.
Now, Eubank Jr and Benn will finally meet in the ring on April 26. The boxing world will be watching to see how this long-awaited clash plays out.
