Jake Joseph Paul (born January 17, 1997) is an American professional boxer who first rose to prominence as a social media influencer and entertainer. He initially built a following through viral Vine and YouTube videos (and briefly appeared on Disney Channel). In 2018 Paul began training seriously in boxing and by 2020 he had turned professional.
Professional Boxing Career
Paul made his pro debut in early 2020 and quickly ran up a series of victories. His early opponents included athletes and entertainers from other fields, and many of these fights ended by knockout. Notably, Paul defeated former MMA champion Ben Askren by knockout and twice beat former UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley (in 2021). During this period he also co-founded the promotion firm Most Valuable Promotions to organize his own events.
After establishing a winning record, Paul moved on to higher-profile bouts. In October 2022 he faced longtime UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva and won by unanimous decision. The following February (2023) he fought undefeated British boxer Tommy Fury and suffered the first defeat of his career, losing a split decision. Later in 2023 Paul returned to victory against former UFC star Nate Diaz, winning a unanimous decision.
In November 2024 Paul headlined a widely viewed exhibition-style bout against former heavyweight champion Mike Tyson. The fight was contested as an eight-round match (with two-minute rounds and 14-ounce gloves) and was televised on Netflix. Paul won the match by unanimous decision.
As of 2025, Paul remains active in the professional boxing scene under his Most Valuable Promotions banner. He has publicly stated ambitions of competing for major boxing titles, and he continues to seek high-profile opponents as he builds his career in the sport.
