Roy Jones Jr Reveals Surprising New Stance on Jake Paul's Boxing Future: "I've Changed My Mind"

Paul, who started as a YouTuber, has made waves in the boxing world. He recently beat Julio Cesar Chavez Jr, a former WBC middleweight champion, in a unanimous decision at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California. This win came after victories over big names like Mike Tyson (though that was controversial), Anderson Silva, Nate Diaz, and Tyron Woodley.

Paul's success has landed him a spot in the WBA's top 15 at cruiserweight. This ranking makes him eligible to fight unified champion Gilberto Ramirez for a world title.

Jones Jr, a multi-weight world champion himself, used to think Paul had what it takes to become a world champion. But now, he's singing a different tune. In a recent interview, Jones Jr explained why he's changed his mind:

"No. I think if they make him fight tough opponents, guys with experience, those guys would beat him. Now if you're against someone like myself or like Tyson at the end of their career, the chances are much higher, because now it becomes a 50-50."

Jones Jr believes Paul would struggle against tough, experienced opponents who are in their prime. He thinks Paul's chances are better when he faces older fighters past their prime, as age evens out the playing field.

The boxing legend, who has been linked to a potential fight with Paul over the years, feels that experienced fighters of Paul's age would be too much for the YouTuber-turned-boxer to handle.

Despite this change in opinion, Paul's recent victory over Chavez Jr shows he's still making strides in the boxing world. It remains to be seen how Paul will fare against tougher competition as he continues his boxing journey.
