Vasiliy Lomachenko, world champion in the lightweight category according to the IBF, announced his retirement.
“In the life of any athlete, there comes a moment when he hangs up his gloves. In our history, this day has come. First of all, I would like to thank our Lord, Jesus Christ, for everything He has done for us, and for leading a little vain boy on His path, showing that recognition, history, and legendary status are not the very essence of existence,” said Lomachenko in a video posted on his social media.
He also thanked his father, his entire team, Bob Arum, and boxing fans in this video.
