At the tournament in Australia Jai Opetaya (28-0, 22 KO) predictably defended his IBF titles and according to The Ring magazine in the first heavyweight division, stopping the previously undefeated Italian Claudio Squeo (17-1, 9 KO) in the fifth round.

The fight could have ended in the fourth round when Opetaya sent his opponent to the canvas with a blow to the solar plexus, but the referee mistakenly decided that the champion had hit too low.

For Opetaya, who is aiming to unify titles with the winner of the WBA and WBO title fight between Gilberto Ramirez and Yuniel Dorticos, today’s performance was his second this year.
