Canelo's run against British fighters started in 2011. He beat Matthew Hatton by decision and stopped Ryan Rhodes. But it was his 2016 knockout of Amir Khan that really stood out. Canelo landed a big overhand right that ended the fight.
That same year, Canelo beat Liam Smith with a body shot. In 2018, he took down Rocky Fielding in three rounds. Two years later, he outpointed Callum Smith.
One of Canelo's most impressive wins came against Billy Joe Saunders. Canelo broke Saunders' eye socket with an uppercut. He kept his WBA and WBC titles and grabbed the IBF belt too.
But it's John Ryder who Canelo thinks is the best British fighter he's faced. They fought in 2023, and Canelo won by unanimous decision. After the fight, he said:
"We need to give him his credit. He came to fight, his preparation was very good. I respect the fight he did. He's strong, he did everything in the ring and that's what I expected. I saw him fighting with other guys and he's top."
Canelo's not done yet. He's got big plans coming up. In May, he'll fight William Scull to try and get his IBF title back. If he wins, he'll be the undisputed super-middleweight champion again.
Later in the year, Canelo might face an even bigger challenge. There's talk of a fight against Terence Crawford, one of the best pound-for-pound boxers out there. It's a fight that could really test Canelo's skills.
With 62 wins, 2 losses, and 39 knockouts in 66 fights, Canelo's career is far from over. His fights against British boxers have been a big part of his journey, and fans can't wait to see what's next for the Mexican champion.
