Oscar De La Hoya Warns Pacquiao's Comeback: "He's Making A Mistake"

Pacquiao hasn't fought since losing to Yordenis Ugas four years ago at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. Throughout his career, he's had 72 fights and made history as the only boxer to win world titles in eight different weight classes. He's beaten some of the best, including Miguel Cotto, Juan Manuel Marquez, and Marco Antonio Barrera.

One of Pacquiao's most memorable wins came against Oscar De La Hoya in December 2008. In that non-title showdown, Pacquiao forced De La Hoya to retire after the 8th round.

Now, with talk of a comeback, De La Hoya, known as "The Golden Boy," has some words of caution for his former opponent:

"I wish him all the best. Obviously the truth is the truth, he's obviously not the same Pacquiao that fought me, that fought the greats. I wish him the best, be careful up there, he's not young like he used to be but I'm sure he still has that power so anything can happen but yeah, just be careful."

De La Hoya points out that Pacquiao isn't the fighter he once was. He's older now, but probably still packs a punch. The former champ seems worried about Pacquiao's safety in the ring.

If Pacquiao does come back, he'll likely face Mario Barrios for the WBC welterweight title. Barrios became champion last May after Terence Crawford moved up to light-middleweight and left the belt vacant.

Another name in the welterweight mix is Errol Spence Jr. The former unified champion lost his titles two years ago in an undisputed championship fight against Terence Crawford.

The boxing world will watch closely to see if Pacquiao decides to lace up the gloves one more time. At 46, it's a big risk, but Pacquiao has always been known for taking on challenges.
