Former Heavyweight Champ Boasts He'd End Tyson Fury's Career: "It'd Be Criminal"

Bowe's bold statement comes as he compares his era of heavyweight boxing to today's fighters. He believes the boxers from his time had superior defensive skills.

"I'm going to jail for murder. Cause you know I'm not going to play with them. I'm going right to them. Three rounds, we going home," Bowe said in a recent interview.

He didn't stop there. Bowe criticized the current crop of heavyweights for their lack of defensive prowess.

"Everybody's [stiff] now, they're following each other around, nobody's slipping, catching shots. In my era you had to do that. So if you're not slipped and rolling and stopping shots, you eat them."

Bowe's career peaked when he defeated Evander Holyfield in 1992 to become the undisputed heavyweight champion. He was known for his formidable size, power, and surprising agility. His powerful jab and devastating right hand made him a force to be reckoned with in the ring.

Fury, on the other hand, is a two-time world champion with notable wins over Wladimir Klitschko and Deontay Wilder. He's known for his incredible mobility despite his large size. However, Fury's recent losses to Oleksandr Usyk have shaken up the heavyweight division.

Usyk's victories over Fury have solidified his position as the top heavyweight, with Fury announcing his retirement shortly after.

While Bowe's claim might seem outlandish to some, it's worth noting that the heavyweight division of the 1990s was stacked with talent. Bowe, Holyfield, and Lennox Lewis were just a few of the big names dominating the scene.

Despite his confidence, Bowe's career wasn't without controversy. He famously refused to face Lennox Lewis and once tossed his WBC belt in a trash bin on live TV.

As for Fury, despite his recent setbacks, he'll likely be remembered as one of the top heavyweights of his generation. But in the world of boxing, where confidence is key, Bowe's bold claim adds another chapter to the ongoing debate about which era produced the best fighters.
