Ricky Hatton thinks a fight between Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua is a toss-up. The former world champion shared his thoughts on the long-awaited clash between the two British heavyweights.

Boxing fans have wanted to see Fury and Joshua face off for a decade. But recent setbacks for both fighters have made the match-up more likely. Oleksandr Usyk beat Fury twice, with the last defeat coming in December 2024. Joshua lost to Daniel Dubois a few months before that. Fury even announced his retirement in early 2025.

Hatton spoke to Vegas Insider about the potential fight:

"It's a tough one, I think it's 50/50, I wouldn't say either would be the favourite. Tyson has had a great career; AJ has had a fantastic career, but both are showing signs of miles on the clock but it's a fight we have always wanted to see."

He added that both fighters should consider hanging up their gloves after the bout:

"You would still pay all day long to watch the fight, let them fight each other and then I would like to see them both retire then as they have nothing more to prove."

Hatton criticized Joshua for his performance against Dubois. He felt AJ didn't take the fight seriously enough:

"AJ, the way he was in the corner even before he was knocked out, was a little bit casual, and I think he took Daniel Dubois lightly. He was that convinced before the fight, going into the fight, and even during the fight."

As for Fury, Hatton believes he'll regret not facing Joshua earlier in his career. The "Gypsy King" lost his unbeaten record to Usyk, which Hatton thinks will disappoint him.

Even though Fury says he's retired, Hatton thinks he'll come back for one last fight. He's said before that Fury will want to face Joshua before truly walking away from boxing.

The fight could happen in early 2025. Both Fury and Joshua have something to prove after their recent losses. It's a match-up that's been years in the making, and fans will surely tune in to see who comes out on top.
