Usyk's former ring opponent noted the uniqueness of the meeting between two outstanding masters of different disciplines — one dominates the world of boxing, the other was unbeaten in kickboxing for a long time.
Briedis paid special attention to the exotic location: the fight will take place on May 23 in Giza, Egypt, right at the foot of the ancient pyramids. "Two champions in their field, and such a location — near the pyramids. The next stage, probably, is Usyk against a dinosaur somewhere in space, on a satellite," the Latvian boxer ironically remarked in the latest release on his YouTube channel.
"In fact, it's very cool in terms of how unconventional everything is thought out. I think the excitement will be worldwide because I would put this fight in the top 3 in terms of interest. Why? Because currently, the first was Fury, I think, the second Joshua. Or even Joshua, then Fury. Like that. And this fight, of course, in terms of such excitement, in terms of interest," Briedis concluded.
The fight, named "Glory in Giza," will be the first title fight for the WBC heavyweight championship to take place in Egypt. The event will be broadcast live on the DAZN platform globally.
