Oscar De La Hoya Cautions Manny Pacquiao's Return: "Age Is Undefeated"

Pacquiao hasn't fought since June 2021 when he lost to Yordenis Ugas. Now, after four years away from the sport, he's aiming to make history as the oldest welterweight world champion.

The announcement of Pacquiao's comeback has got boxing fans talking. Some are excited, while others are worried about his age and time away from the ring.

Oscar De La Hoya, a former rival of Pacquiao and now a promoter, shared his thoughts on The Ariel Helwani Show.

"You know what, I learned that you can never tell a fighter whether he has to retire or not, he has to make that decision on his own. I think that if Manny Pacquiao wants to come back and fight and he feels it in his gut, he feels it in his heart, in his, you know, in his body, why not just go for it?"

But De La Hoya also had a word of caution for the Filipino icon:

"But be careful, you're facing a young guy who is probably half your age, who is coming with everything, who's going to try to make a point off your name."

Pacquiao already holds the record for the oldest welterweight world champion. If he wins on July 19, he'll break his own record.

Barrios, the current WBC welterweight champion, is younger and more active than Pacquiao. He'll be looking to use this fight to make a name for himself.

Pacquiao confirmed his return and his goal to make history in this bout. The boxing world will be watching closely to see if the Filipino legend can turn back the clock one more time.
