Liam Smith Reveals Unexpected Outcome for Conor Benn Rematch: "It's Not What You Think"

The bout between these two fighters had been a long time coming. Originally set for October 2022, fans had to wait over two and a half years to see them finally lock horns. When they did, it didn't disappoint. Many are calling it one of the greatest fights to ever take place on British soil.

Now, talks of a rematch are heating up. Turki Alalshikh of Riyadh Season has proposed a September date for the second encounter. Both Eubank Jr. and Benn have shown interest in running it back, though an official announcement is still pending.

Former WBO light-middleweight champion Liam Smith, the only fighter to stop Eubank Jr., shared his thoughts on the potential rematch. Smith said:

"I'd like to see the rematch. It'll end up a good fight [again]. I think Chris wins again. Size-wise he's too big for him. But Conor's got even more of a chance next time around."

Smith also offered some insight into Eubank Jr.'s current form, noting:

"I think Chris is one or two fights from being done. His balance has gone a little bit."

While both fighters seem keen on the rematch, they're keeping their options open. We'll have to wait for the official announcement in the coming weeks to see if this bout will indeed happen in September.
