Eubank Sr said he pocketed £850,000 for his second fight against Nigel Benn. The clash ended in a draw, with the judges scoring it 115-113 Eubank, 114-113 Benn, and 114-114. Eubank retained his belt after the closely contested match.
"It may not seem like a great deal of money, but I was never fighting for money. I was fighting for the hearts of the people. My wealth was getting my face and name in the television and the newspapers, being on TV three times a week, showing who I really am."
Eubank Sr's career spanned the late 1980s and 1990s. He fought 52 times, winning 45 bouts with 23 knockouts. He lost five times and drew twice. The British boxer won his first full world title in 1990 with a TKO victory over Nigel Benn.
Eubank Sr defended his WBO super-middleweight title against fighters like Sam Storey and Ray Close. He also had notable wins over Michael Watson, defending his title three times before moving up to super-middleweight for their rematch.
