British Heavyweight Daniel Dubois Challenges Deontay Wilder: "He's The Ultimate Test"

Wilder, known as "The Bronze Bomber," was once a long-ruling heavyweight champion with an impressive record of 43 wins, including 42 knockouts. However, his career took a downturn after his trilogy with Tyson Fury. The series began with a draw in 2018 when Fury returned from a long layoff. Fury then won the next two bouts by knockout in 2020 and 2021, though Wilder managed to knock Fury down several times in their final encounter.

Since then, Wilder's performances have been mixed. He scored a first-round knockout win against Robert Helenius but lost on points to Joseph Parker. His most recent fight ended in a knockout loss to Zhilei Zhang in June last year. Now, Wilder's career hangs in the balance as he prepares to face Tyrrell Herndon in Kansas this June.

On the other hand, Allen's career has seen a recent upturn. He just beat Johnny Fisher in a career-best performance, earning him the WBA Intercontinental champion title. This victory marks a significant improvement for Allen, who has faced tough opponents like Luis Ortiz, Dillian Whyte, and David Price in the past but never managed to win at the highest level.

Allen's ambition to face Wilder led him to text promoter Eddie Hearn with a proposal. He suggested getting a few more wins under his belt before taking on Wilder, possibly in 2025. Hearn's response was encouraging, indicating that such a matchup could indeed happen.

Speaking to Talksport, Allen expressed his excitement about the potential fight:

"Genuinely, for some reason, bizarrely in 2025, Dave Allen could box Deontay Wilder. [Wilder's] not the fighter he was, but it's still crazy that it could even be an option. They are the sort of fights that would really get the best out of me. It's dreamland really, and definitely a fight I would love."

While the idea of Allen facing Wilder might have seemed far-fetched in the past, recent developments in both fighters' careers have made it a possibility worth considering. Fans will keep a close eye on how both boxers perform in their upcoming fights, which could determine whether this dream matchup becomes a reality in 2025.
