Gervonta Davis Reveals Surprising Pick for Garcia-Romero Fight: "Didn't See It Coming"

Garcia, the 26-year-old from California, is making his return after a one-year suspension. He tested positive for Ostarine in the lead-up to his fight with Devin Haney last April. That bout, originally a majority decision win for Garcia in what many called his career-best performance, was later changed to a no contest. Garcia had knocked Haney down three times during the fight.

The Nevada State Athletic Commission has officially lifted Garcia's suspension, clearing the way for his return against Romero.

Gervonta "Tank" Davis, who stopped Garcia in the seventh round of their 2023 bout, shared his thoughts on the upcoming fight with Fight Hub TV. Davis expects fireworks:

"It's going to be a good fight. Yeah, for sure, somebody's getting knocked out. I ain't gonna lie, Rolly hit hard, people be sleeping on Rolly because he don't got no chin, but Rolly can hit bro, he's the only person I felt like when he swung, it felt like bricks was in his gloves."

Davis went on to say it would be "crazy" if Romero pulled off the upset, admitting he's hoping Rolly will do just that.

While Garcia has left the door open for a rematch with Davis, they're unlikely to agree on weight. For now, Garcia's focus is on Romero and potentially setting up a rematch with Haney later this year, if both come through their respective fights on this card.

Haney will face former unified super-lightweight champion Jose Ramirez directly before the Garcia-Romero bout. The stage is set for an action-packed night of boxing that could reshape the lightweight division.
