Shakur Stevenson Reveals Surprising Take on Eubank Jr-Benn Matchup: "People Don't See It"

Stevenson spoke about the match on The Ring Podcast, giving his take on both fighters and the challenge ahead. He mentioned meeting Benn personally and found him different from his tough-guy image.

"Conor Benn is a cool dude. He showed good energy when I met him. It's different from how people think he is, like mean and stuff."

Stevenson also had kind words for Eubank Jr, praising his boxing skills.

"He's a guy with subtle boxing skills, like you ain't really noticing how good he is. He's a pretty good fighter."

The fight has been a long time coming. It was first set for October 2022 but got called off when Benn tested positive for a banned substance. Benn worked hard to clear his name and got the green light to fight again last year.

Stevenson thinks Benn's got a tough job ahead, moving up two weight classes for this bout. Still, he admires Benn's guts for taking on the challenge.

"It's gonna be a hard task for Conor Benn. I'm rooting for him though. You gotta respect him for jumping up two weight classes."

The build-up to the fight hasn't been smooth. Eubank Jr recently got fined for slapping an egg on Benn's face, adding more heat to their rivalry.

The April 26th showdown at Tottenham Hotspur's Stadium will settle scores not just between Benn and Eubank Jr, but also continue the story their dads started in the ring decades ago.
