Ryan Garcia wants to fight Gervonta Davis and Devin Haney again, but for different reasons. He's got something to prove with both boxers.
Garcia's first big loss came against Davis in 2023. 'Tank' dropped him twice - once in the second round and again in the seventh. The final body shot in that seventh round ended the fight. Garcia blamed the loss on being drained by a rehydration clause. The event was a hit, though, bringing in big money from ticket sales and pay-per-view buys.
After moving up in weight and beating Oscar Duarte, Garcia took on Devin Haney for the WBC Super-Lightweight World Championship. Things got messy when Garcia missed weight and couldn't win the belt. They still fought after working out a deal. Garcia knocked Haney down three times and won on points. But that win didn't last long - it was changed to a no contest when Garcia failed some doping tests.
Now, Garcia's talking about fighting both guys again. He thinks he'd beat Davis easily if they fought at a higher weight.
"It's not a hard fight for me. I would beat Gervonta Davis worse than I beat Devin Haney. Gervonta would never fight me at 145 so it doesn't really matter."
Garcia claims he was weak in their first fight and wants to prove himself at a fairer weight. But he knows Davis probably won't take that fight.
As for Haney, Garcia wants to show he didn't need any extra help to win.
"Haney caught me, Gervonta I didn't really [feel anything]."
Garcia recently said that Haney would be the tougher rematch. Both fighters have big fights coming up on May 3. Haney's taking on Jose Ramirez, while Garcia's facing Rolly Romero. If they both win, we might see them fight each other again later this year.
Meanwhile, Davis has his own rematch to worry about. He's set to face Lamont Roach Jr. soon.
