Jake Paul, the controversial boxing star, recently shared his thoughts on the punching power of his opponents. The 27-year-old's opinion might surprise many fans.
Paul's fledgling boxing campaign has seen him rack up wins against Ben Askren, Tyron Woodley, Nate Diaz, Andre August, Ryan Borland, Mike Perry, and most recently, Mike Tyson. His only loss came against Tommy Fury in a split decision, despite putting Fury down during the fight.
The YouTuber-turned-boxer's recent bout with former undisputed heavyweight champion Mike Tyson shattered viewership records. However, Tyson, now 58, struggled to keep up after the first round, showing his age as he lost widely on the scorecards.
When asked about the hardest puncher he's faced, Paul's answer wasn't the man known as "Iron Mike." Instead, he pointed to Tommy Fury.
"Tommy Fury [is the most power I've felt in a fight]. It's the shots you don't see so Tommy was a little tricky. If you see the punch coming you can prepare for it, if all of a sudden you can't see it and you get hit, that's when it hurts. So Tommy was more tricky with that, but Mike's punches I could see coming."
Paul explained that Tyson's power didn't leave much of an impression on him during their fight.
"Tyson was strong but he didn't land anything clean so I honestly didn't feel Mike Tyson's full power, which is good because obviously you don't want to."
Looking ahead, Paul will likely seek a rematch with Tommy Fury to avenge his only loss. Fury, a more traditional boxer, recently made headlines when he pulled out of a fight with Darren Till due to threats of head kicks.
As Paul continues his boxing journey, his comparison of Tyson and Fury's punching power adds an interesting twist to his growing list of opponents. It remains to be seen how this experience will shape his approach in future fights.
