Oleksandr Usyk says Tyson Fury is the best fighter he's ever faced. The Ukrainian boxer shared this in a recent interview with DAZN, reflecting on his impressive career and recent victory over Fury.
Usyk has had a stellar run in boxing. He first dominated the cruiserweight division, becoming the undisputed champion. He beat some tough opponents like Mairis Briedis, Tony Bellew, Murat Gassiev, Marco Huck, and Michael Hunter.
When he moved up to heavyweight, Usyk didn't slow down. He started with wins over Chazz Witherspoon and Derek Chisora. Then he shocked the world by beating Anthony Joshua twice, first winning the IBF, WBA, and WBO titles, and then defending them in a rematch.
After defending his titles against Daniel Dubois, Usyk faced his biggest challenge yet - Tyson Fury. In a fight for all the marbles, Usyk won by split decision, even dropping Fury. With this win, he added the WBC title to his collection and became the undisputed heavyweight champion. He's now the first boxer since Evander Holyfield to be undisputed at both cruiserweight and heavyweight.
In a recent interview with DAZN, Usyk named Fury as his toughest opponent. He said:
"I think yes. Much respect for all my opponents. Boxing is a tough sport, a very dangerous sport. This man [Fury] is very famous [around the] world. A big man, I am a small man."
Usyk also talked about their upcoming rematch and the toll boxing takes on his body:
"We have a second fight. Boxing is not play, it's a hard sport, tough. When you're back home after the fight, my body taught me: 'Hey Alex, please [don't do this again].' I said [no]."
Fans are looking forward to Fury vs Usyk II, set for December 21. It's a fight that's got everyone talking, with even boxing legend Evander Holyfield weighing in with his prediction.
