Shannon Briggs wants to fight Jake Paul. The former heavyweight champion, who's knocked out 53 opponents, says he'll end Paul's boxing career.
Briggs made his challenge after Paul's recent fight with Mike Tyson. The two faced off in November for a Netflix event. It was a real pro fight, set for eight two-minute rounds. Paul did better than Tyson, who looked all of his 58 years. Tyson couldn't throw many punches, while Paul moved around and landed shots. Paul held back, seeing Tyson wasn't at his best.
Some people said the fight was fake, but Paul says that's not true. You can read more about the fight and what happened here.
Now Briggs wants a piece of Paul. He put up an Instagram post saying:
"I feel responsible. I feel responsible, that's why Mike was mad at me when we did the slap boxing thing cause he was like 'yo, you trained Jake and Logan Paul.' I didn't understand, I didn't get it at first. I feel responsible. I started it. Now I gotta end it. I gotta hurt one of them."
Briggs has quite a record. He's won 60 out of 68 fights, with 53 knockouts. He even beat George Foreman. But he hasn't fought since 2016.
Briggs feels he needs to step up because he trained Jake and Logan Paul. He wants to get back at Jake for beating Tyson and settle things between them.
This isn't the first time Briggs has chased a big fight. He once went after Wladimir Klitschko, always saying "let's go champ". But that fight never happened.
Even though Briggs wants to fight, it probably won't happen. People didn't like Paul fighting Tyson because of the age difference. So, Paul will likely avoid fighting another older boxer like Briggs.
