Investigation into bribery of judges at the Rio Olympics is underway

An investigation is underway into possible tampering with the results of the Rio games five years ago. Suspicions have fallen on the outcome of eleven bouts. Investigators suspect, for example, of bribing the referees of Michael Conlan's duel with Vladimir Nikitin, after which the Irishman "thanked" the referees with his middle finger. However, he was so convincing in this fight that Nikitin withdrew from the Olympic semi-final because of injuries.

Conlan wins in Belfast, gets WBA title

In the main event of the evening in Belfast, Michael Conlan (16-0, 8 KOs) defeated TJ Doheny (22-3, 16 KOs) via unanimous decision to win the WBA featherweight title. In the fifth round, Doheny hit the floor after receiving body punch. After twelve rounds, the judges scored it 119-108, 116-111, 116-111.
