Du Plessis and Strickland met for the first time at UFC 297 in January of this year - the confrontation ended in a split decision victory for Drikus. In August, the South African successfully defended his title with an early decision over former division leader Israel Adesanya.
The promotion also announced that women's bantamweight champion Waley Jean will defend her belt at UFC 312, facing Tatiana Suarez.
