UFC lightweight champion Merab Dvalishvili said he didn't want to take the fight with Umar Nurmagomedov January.

Earlier it became known that the Russian and the Georgian will fight at the UFC 311 tournament, which will take place on January 18 in Los Angeles, USA.

"People from the UFC asked if I wanted to fight in January. They wanted me. They wanted both Islam and Umar to perform. I said yes because I'm loyal to the organization. I went to the office and said: "OK, I agree."

I was tired. I had to perform even with an injury, under antibiotics. But I'm in shape because I've been helping Aljamain Sterling in camp, but I wasn't planning to fight until February. But I am a warrior and I am loyal to the UFC," Merab said in an interview with Ariel Helwani.
