UFC middleweight champion Dricus Du Plessis spoke about why a fight against Hamzat Chimaev couldn't be set up.

It was previously reported that the South African will make his title defense against Sean Strickland on February 8 at UFC 312 in Sydney, Australia.

"The fight with Hamzat has been discussed. But the disruption of the fight is not my fault or Chimaev's fault. There were some issues there with the UFC regarding Hamzat. Although I'm not sure. And also the date of the fight - it played its role. This fight was discussed, I said I wanted it, let's do it. But it didn't work out, so Strickland became my opponent," - quotes Dricus Fox Sports.
