Francis Ngannou Eyes Boxing Return, Names Surprising Next Target: "It's Time"

Ngannou told The Ariel Helwani Show, "We haven't committed personally, but it will be soon. We're organising some things." He added, "Yes, I'm looking for it, I would say it's my favorite fight in boxing and MMA."

The 38-year-old Cameroonian has been busy since leaving the UFC. He faced Tyson Fury in October 2023, losing a close split decision but knocking down the heavyweight champion. In March 2024, Anthony Joshua stopped Ngannou in the second round after three knockdowns.

Ngannou didn't let those setbacks keep him down. He returned to MMA in October 2024, winning the PFL heavyweight title with a first-round knockout of Renan Ferreira.

On the other side of the ring, Deontay "The Bronze Bomber" Wilder looks to bounce back from losses to Joseph Parker and Zhilei Zhang. The 39-year-old American recently got back in the win column with a TKO victory over Tyrell Anthony Herndon in June 2025.

Wilder's interest in fighting Ngannou isn't new. In a previous chat with Ariel Helwani, he said, "I'm definitely interested."

A fight between these two would pit two of combat sports' most fearsome punchers against each other. Wilder has knocked out 43 of his 44 victims, while Ngannou made his name in MMA with his one-punch knockout power.

For Ngannou, this fight offers a chance to prove himself against another top heavyweight boxer. Wilder gets to test himself against a unique opponent who's crossed over from MMA.

As talks get underway, fight fans will watch closely to see if this exciting matchup comes together.
