Hearn thinks Crawford isn't taking the challenge of fighting Canelo seriously enough. He questions if Crawford's ready for such a big fight and doubts how good Crawford's professional record really is.
Crawford's one of the best pound-for-pound fighters in the world right now. He just had a great win against Errol Spence Jr. But Canelo's bigger, stronger, and has fought in more weight divisions.
Hearn said:
"Crawford is an incredible fighter, but he has never faced anyone like Canelo. You can't just move up in weight and expect your natural talent to be enough. Canelo is a monster at 168 pounds"
Hearn points out that while Crawford has fought some big names, they're not on the same level as Canelo's opponents. Canelo has gone up against fighters like Gennady Golovkin, Dmitry Bivol, Caleb Plant, and Billy Joe Saunders. He's come out on top in most of these tough fights.
Crawford has done great in lighter weight classes. But to fight Canelo, he'd have to move up to 168 pounds. That's a big jump.
Hearn explained:
"Crawford would have to move up to 168 pounds for this fight. That's a huge jump. And while he's technically brilliant, the physical difference could be telling"
People are getting more and more excited about seeing these two undisputed champions fight each other. But Hearn thinks Crawford should think twice before stepping into the ring with Canelo.
"If he does, it will be for legacy, not logic"
Some people have criticized Canelo for his choice of opponents. But Hearn defends him, saying Canelo's record speaks for itself. He's faced the best in each division and usually won.
Hearn added:
"Canelo is a complete fighter, with power, experience and an underrated defense. He's not just a puncher, he's a strategist"
If this fight happens, it'll be huge. But it's a big risk for Crawford. Hearn respects Crawford's talent but warns that underestimating Canelo could cost him dearly. Will Crawford listen to Hearn's warnings? We'll have to wait and see.
