A video of the arrest shows Chavez Jr. in handcuffs, looking calm and working with the US Marshalls. He asked to talk to his lawyer. The officers put handcuffs on his hands and around his waist to make sure he couldn't run away.

Chavez Jr. has been in trouble with the law before. In 2024, police arrested him for having illegal weapons, but he got out after paying $50,000 bail. His family connections are interesting too. His dad is Julio Cesar Chavez Sr., a famous boxer known as 'Cesar del Boxeo'. His wife, Frida Munoz Roman, used to be with Edgar Guzman Lopez, the son of 'El Chapo'.

People have linked Chavez Jr. to the Sinaloa Cartel before. He once called Ovidio Guzman, another of 'El Chapo's' sons, "a wonderful person." Now, he's facing some serious charges. The authorities say he's involved in drug trafficking, working with the Sinaloa Cartel, and moving guns, bullets, and explosives.

ICE plans to send Chavez Jr. back to Mexico. There's an arrest warrant waiting for him there because of his ties to the Sinaloa Cartel. They'll probably take him by land through the San Ysidro border crossing. Once he's in Mexico, the authorities there will take him to a high-security jail.

Just a few days before his arrest, on Saturday, June 28, Chavez Jr. had a boxing match against Jake Paul in Anaheim. It turns out ICE had been watching him since he arrived in California for the fight.

Chavez Jr.'s visa had run out, which means he wasn't supposed to be in the US anymore. He's also had some personal problems, including drug addiction. He's been to rehab centers to try to get help.

This arrest is a big deal in the boxing world and shows how complicated things can get when sports and crime mix.
