Manny Pacquiao left Floyd Mayweather off his list of top opponents. The Filipino boxing legend recently shared his thoughts on the toughest fighters he's faced in the ring.
Pacquiao's career stands out in boxing history. He's the only fighter to win world titles in eight weight divisions, from flyweight all the way up to super-welterweight. Throughout his journey, he's beaten some of the best boxers of his generation.
When asked about his top five opponents, Pacquiao named Marco Antonio Barrera, Erik Morales, Juan Manuel Marquez, Oscar De La Hoya, and Miguel Cotto. He also gave a nod to Antonio Margarito as another tough challenger.
But Mayweather's name was nowhere to be found on the list. Pacquiao explained his reasoning in an interview with Fight Hype:
"Floyd Mayweather? He's running the whole twelve rounds and he won the fight. How is that? I mean I feel sorry for the fans because the fight is boring, that's not [what] the fans expected of us. As a fighter, if I'm a fan, of course I want to see a good fight, not a fashion show."
Pacquiao's comments refer to their 2015 bout, dubbed the "Fight Of The Century". The match took place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. Mayweather won by unanimous decision, but many fans felt let down by the fight's lack of action.
Pacquiao's list highlights fighters who brought excitement to the ring. His choices reflect a preference for opponents who engaged in more action-packed battles, rather than those who relied on defensive tactics.
