Rising Star Moses Itauma's Skills Prompt Bold Claim from Carl Froch: "He's That Good"

Froch, who competed in 12 straight world title fights from 2008 to 2014, sees Itauma as a top fighter with the potential to become a world champion. The young heavyweight has already built an impressive record of 12 wins with 10 knockouts.

On his YouTube channel 'Froch On Fighting', the retired boxer expressed some concerns about Itauma's readiness for top-level competition.

"You've got to build them up. You can't chuck them in the deep end straight away… You've got to take your time still."

Froch pointed out that Itauma hasn't been tested under pressure yet, and his chin hasn't been checked in professional fights. He also noted that sparring experience with headgear differs from actual fights.

When it comes to potential opponents, Froch advised against matching Itauma with current heavyweight king Oleksandr Usyk or Daniel Dubois, considering them too experienced at this stage. Instead, he suggested fighters like Dillian Whyte and Joe Joyce as more suitable matchups.

Froch also mentioned Dave Allen as an exciting option at the British or European level, especially after Allen's recent knockout of Johnny Fisher. However, he ruled out Derek Chisora as a potential opponent.

"I think he's done now. I think it would be a punchbag exercise for Moses."

Despite these cautionary notes, Froch remains optimistic about Itauma's future in the sport.

"He's got a great career ahead of him in my opinion and I think he'll be a fantastic world champion if indeed he gets there."

Rumors have circulated about a possible fight between Itauma and Dillian Whyte in August, but this hasn't been confirmed yet. As Itauma continues to progress, fans and experts alike will be watching closely to see how this rising star in British boxing develops.
