Spence knows firsthand how strong Crawford is. The two fought last July at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas for the undisputed world welterweight championship. Crawford dominated the fight, knocking Spence down several times before stopping him in the ninth round. It was Spence's first professional loss.
"He's a strong dude. I got a feel for his power probably like first, second round. You know, everybody at this top level have some type of power. But I think because my timing was off he was catching me in between shots."
Crawford's win made him the first undisputed welterweight champion of the four-belt era. Now, the 37-year-old from Omaha aims to make more history. He'll face Canelo Alvarez on Saturday, September 13, likely in Las Vegas. If Crawford wins, he'll become the first man to be undisputed champion in three weight classes.
Spence, 35, from Long Island, New York, plans to come back at light-middleweight. Meanwhile, the boxing world can't wait for Crawford vs Canelo. Both fighters are big names in the sport, and their matchup promises to be one of the year's biggest events.
