Floyd Mayweather Jr. has opened up about Manny Pacquiao's punching power. The former boxing champion shared his thoughts ahead of Pacquiao's comeback fight against Mario Barrios.
Mayweather and Pacquiao faced off in the 'Fight Of The Century' on May 2, 2015, at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. Mayweather won by unanimous decision, but the bout didn't live up to the hype many fans expected.
In a recent YouTube interview, Mayweather described Pacquiao's power as "solid". He said:
"Pacquiao obviously got power also, you know I've been in there with him. He's solid, he's solid, it ain't nothing I've never felt before but he's solid."
Mayweather added: "He felt me too that's why he wasn't quick to run in there, so it's obvious we both felt each other."
After beating Pacquiao, Mayweather unified the WBC, WBA, and WBO welterweight titles. He called it quits two years later.
Now, at 46, Pacquiao is gearing up for a comeback. He'll face Mario Barrios for the WBC welterweight championship in Las Vegas next month. If he wins, Pacquiao will break his own record as the oldest welterweight champion in boxing history. He first set this record in 2019 at 40 years old.
Pacquiao's return to the ring comes after a four-year break. The Filipino boxer will try to prove he's still got what it takes to compete at the highest level.
