Tony Bellew, the former cruiserweight world champion, has picked Roy Jones Jr. as the greatest boxer of all time. Bellew shared his opinion in a recent social media post, showing he's still passionate about the sport even after hanging up his gloves.
Bellew's career had some big moments. He won the cruiserweight world title in dramatic fashion, getting up from a knockdown to stop Ilunga Makabu at Goodison Park. He also beat David Haye twice and put up a good fight against Oleksandr Usyk before getting stopped.
On social media, Bellew wrote: "I'd say the greatest boxer ever is [Roy Jones Jnr] and the greatest man to ever box is Muhammad Ali."
Roy Jones Jr. had an amazing career. He won a silver medal at the 1988 Olympics and went on to win world titles in four weight classes, from middleweight all the way up to heavyweight. Out of 76 pro fights, he won 66 of them.
Jones Jr. was known for his incredible speed and unusual style. He'd throw punches from weird angles and had a famous leaping left hook. The high point of his career was when he beat John Ruiz to win a heavyweight title.
After that, Jones Jr. kept fighting for over 15 more years. He lost to big names like Bernard Hopkins and Joe Calzaghe before finally retiring in 2023 at 54 years old. Many fans think he should've quit after beating Ruiz, but he's still remembered as one of the best.
Bellew also mentioned Muhammad Ali, calling him "the greatest man to ever box." Ali, known as 'The Greatest', is famous for his fights with Joe Frazier and George Foreman. But he's also remembered for his work outside the ring, fighting for social and political causes.
