Terence Crawford Reveals Ambitious Plan for Canelo Showdown: "It's Never Been Done"

Crawford shared the news during his tour in Australia. He told Fox Sports that Las Vegas will host the much-anticipated bout. The fight's estimated value sits at a whopping $200 million.

Richard Schaefer, Canelo's commercial representative, can't contain his excitement. He told The Ring magazine:

"I've been involved (in boxing) for 25 years and I don't remember any bigger fight than Canelo-Crawford. It will be the biggest fight in this sport that I can remember."

Schaefer thinks this match could outdo the 2015 Mayweather vs Pacquiao fight in terms of records and expectations.

Crawford agrees with Schaefer's take, but he's careful not to get ahead of himself. He said:

"I feel like if it is successful and gets the support of the fans, it could definitely achieve the big numbers needed to surpass the big Mayweather-Pacquiao fight."

But Crawford also pointed out that the fight's success depends on how many people choose to watch it legally instead of through piracy.

Oscar de la Hoya chimed in with his thoughts on what a win could mean for Crawford's legacy. He believes beating Canelo would make Crawford the greatest boxer of all time. Crawford would be the first fighter in the four-belt era to be undisputed in three weight classes.

Crawford responded humbly to de la Hoya's high praise:

"It makes me feel good because I've worked hard in this sport for a long time. So to get what I deserve would be a beautiful thing."

Despite the talk of his potential greatness, Crawford still considers Muhammad Ali as the greatest of all time.

As September 13 draws closer, all eyes will be on Las Vegas. Boxing fans around the world will watch to see if this fight lives up to its massive hype.
