Benn's been out of the UK spotlight for a while. He's only had two fights in the last three years, both in the US. He won on points against Rodolfo Orozco and Peter Dobson. But there's more to the story. Benn failed two doping tests, which led to the cancellation of the original Eubank fight. He's spent time trying to prove he's innocent and now he's got the green light to fight on home soil again.
Josh Taylor, the former undisputed super lightweight world champion, shared his thoughts on the fight. Speaking to IFL TV, Taylor said:
"I couldn't really care. It is a big fight. Chris egging him and all that, I thought that was quite good actually."
Taylor thinks Eubank Jr has the edge. He pointed out that Eubank's been in with better fighters and only lost to world champions. He's got more experience at the highest level.
On the other hand, Taylor wasn't too impressed with Benn's record:
"[Benn] hasn't really fought anybody or beat anybody of significance. He's improved a hell of a lot and he's been knocking out people, but we all know why that was – eating too many eggs."
But Taylor didn't completely write off Benn's chances. He noted that Eubank got stopped by Liam Smith and that Benn hits hard. Still, Taylor's leaning towards Eubank for the win.
If Benn can pull off the upset, he'll have plenty of options. He's the biggest draw in UK welterweight boxing right now. Taylor himself said he'd be open to a fight with Benn:
"Absolutely. If the money's right, absolutely."
Taylor's got his own fight coming up. He's making his welterweight debut against Ekow Essuman on May 14 in Glasgow. He's aiming to become a two-weight world champion and star in the biggest fights. Taylor's even got a dream venue in mind – Easter Road Stadium.
Benn enters the biggest fight of his career with a lot on the line. A win over Eubank could open up a world of opportunities. But first, he's got to get past the bigger, more experienced fighter in front of him.
