Next month, Canelo will defend his two-time undisputed super middleweight championship against William Scull. If he wins, there's talk he might face Crawford next.
Back in January, Ennis told YSM Sports Media he thought it was an even match-up.
"It's a good fight. A 50-50 fight, and I guess it's a fight that everybody wants to see."
But now, he's leaning towards Canelo. He explained why to Fight Hub TV.
"I think you gotta lean more towards Canelo, cause like I said before he's been putting big guys out and Canelo's not even really a 168 pounder, he probably really should be at 160 maybe, and he's been hurting these guys."
Ennis thinks Crawford should warm up before jumping in with Canelo.
"I think Crawford should take a warm-up fight at like 160, just to get the feeling of somebody a little bit bigger and things like that. I know when you go up a weight you gotta develop, put the muscle on. So he might not want to take a fight cause he's trying to build right now, but I think he should just to stay sharp and that way he don't have a long lay-off."
Crawford's last fight was at 154 pounds against Israil Madrimov in August 2024. He won that one, but he's been out of the ring for over a year now. His next fight isn't expected until September, likely in 2025.
Ennis isn't just talking about other fighters. He's got a big fight of his own this weekend. He'll take on WBA Champion Eimantas Stanionis in a welterweight unification bout.
