Froch hung up his gloves over a decade ago after a stellar career. He won multiple world titles in the super-middleweight division, holding the WBC, IBF, and WBA belts at different times. Before that, he had the British and Commonwealth titles from 2004 to 2008.
'The Cobra' scored some big wins in his time. He knocked out Jermain Taylor in the last second of their fight and beat George Groves twice. The second Groves fight ended with a knockout at Wembley Stadium, which turned out to be Froch's last bout.
Since then, Froch has become a popular voice in boxing as a pundit and commentator. But recently, he got a call that could've changed all that.
In an episode of his YouTube show 'Froch on Fighting', he spilled the beans about the offer:
"I was actually offered the fight with Darren Till, Mams Taylor phoned me up and offered me the fight. It wasn't a bad little bit of bunce really."
But Froch turned it down. He explained why:
"I turned it down, I should have probably took it to be honest. I'd only need a couple of rounds of shadow boxing to beat Darren Till."
The offer came over Christmas when Froch was busy with family and had been away skiing. He felt he needed at least four weeks in the gym, but he'd only be on British soil for a week before the fight.
Even though he said no, Froch didn't lack confidence. He reckoned he could finish Till inside two rounds.
In the end, Till ended up fighting Anthony Taylor instead. Till stopped Taylor in six rounds. Taylor was a last-minute replacement for Tommy Fury, who pulled out over threats of MMA tactics.
So, while fans didn't get to see Froch back in action, they got a taste of what could have been. And who knows? Maybe next time, 'The Cobra' will bite at the chance to return to the ring.
