Former WBO lightweight champion Denys Berinchyk is lining up a return to the ring after recovering from injury and undergoing surgery. Promoter Alexander Krassyuk says the rehabilitation process is complete and a comeback is now in motion.

After months of silence, Denys Berinchyk is back on the radar. According to promoter Alexander Krassyuk, the former WBO lightweight titleholder has fully recovered from surgery and is now preparing for a spring return to the ring.

Krassyuk explained that the lack of updates in recent months was tied directly to Berinchyk’s health. The Ukrainian veteran underwent a successful operation, completed a full training camp, and then focused on recovery work before resuming plans for his next bout.

Krassyuk said the target is a fight in the spring, with late April or May viewed as the most realistic window. More importantly, he made clear this is not being treated as a soft comeback assignment. Talks are already underway, and George Warren’s promotional company is involved in the process as the sides work toward finalizing the matchup.

That matters at lightweight, where contenders can quickly re-enter the picture with one meaningful win. Berinchyk is no longer at the prospect stage of his career, so a victory over a credible opponent would immediately put him back into serious conversations in a division that remains crowded with established names and emerging threats.

Krassyuk also made it clear he does not see Berinchyk as a fighter who needs a tune-up. In his view, the experience and mentality are already there, and the next step should reflect that. The expected opponent is believed to be a boxer from Great Britain, though no final name has been confirmed yet.

For Berinchyk, this return is about more than activity. It is a chance to show that the injury layoff did not change his level and that he can still matter in one of boxing’s deepest divisions. The key thing to watch now is whether the British opponent is finalized soon enough for that late-April or May timetable to hold.
