Zhang told FightHype that retirement announcements are common in boxing, but they don't always last long.
"I think it's a statement that happens pretty often in the sport boxing, You retire for a month or two then come back."
He pointed out that Fury has a history of retiring and returning to the ring.
"Maybe he's not feeling so well for a few days, he announces his retirement, then he'll come back … [He has done it] so many times."
Fury, a two-time heavyweight world champion, has made a name for himself with his skills and larger-than-life personality. He's had some big wins in his career, including victories over Wladimir Klitschko and Dillian Whyte. He also had an epic trilogy with Deontay Wilder, one of the division's hardest punchers, which ended with one draw and two knockouts in Fury's favor.
But things haven't gone Fury's way lately. He lost to Oleksandr Usyk in an undisputed title fight and then lost the rematch in December. A few weeks after the second Usyk fight, Fury announced his retirement.
Many boxing fans hope Fury will change his mind and return for a potential fight with Anthony Joshua. That matchup has been talked about for years but hasn't happened yet.
As for Zhang, he's got his own big fight coming up. He'll face Agit Kabayel for the interim WBC title. A win could lead to fights with top contenders like Anthony Joshua or even a shot at champion Oleksandr Usyk.
