Kevin Johnson Names The Heavyweight Who Hits Harder Than Daniel Dubois: "It's Not Even Close"

Dubois has taken out some big names in the division. He stopped the previously undefeated Jarrell Miller and Filip Hrgovic. But his most famous KO came against Anthony Joshua, putting him away in five rounds at Wembley Stadium.

The young champ's power has caught the attention of many in the boxing world. Sparring partners and opponents often say his jab feels like a solid right hand from other fighters.

But not everyone rates Dubois as the hardest puncher they've faced. Kevin Johnson, who went the distance with Dubois in 2018, recently shared his thoughts on heavyweight power in an interview with IFL TV.

"The worst I ever felt was Alex Leapai. I s**t you not, it was harder than Vitali [Klitschko]."

Johnson, now a Russian citizen, has been in with some of the biggest names in the sport, including Vitali Klitschko. But he insists Leapai's power stood out. He doubled down on this claim in an interview with Sports Express:

"Alex Leapai from Australia. Alex Leapai is the physically strongest boxer I have ever met in my life. Not only in a fight – I went back to Australia later, lived there for a while, and we sparred together every day. He is powerful."

Leapai might not be a household name, but he made his mark in the sport. The Australian challenged Wladimir Klitschko for the world title in 2014, losing by TKO in the fifth round. Before that, he stopped Johnson in their 2012 bout.

Leapai's career had a rocky start with two wins, two losses, and two draws in his first six fights. But he finished with a respectable record of 31 wins (25 by KO) and 8 losses.

Dubois will get a chance to showcase his power again on February 22 when he defends his world title against Joseph Parker. The heavyweight division's ongoing power debate will surely continue, with Dubois looking to prove he belongs at the top of that list.
