Frank Bruno Reveals His Pick Between Tyson and Lewis: "No Contest, Really"

None

Frank Bruno, the former British heavyweight boxer, thinks Mike Tyson was better than Lennox Lewis. Bruno fought both men during his career and has shared his thoughts on the two champions.

Bruno's boxing journey saw him try for the world title four times. He lost his first attempt to Tim Witherspoon in July 1986. His second try was against Mike Tyson in Las Vegas in February 1989, but Tyson stopped him in the fifth round. Bruno's third shot at the title ended with a seventh-round knockout loss to Lennox Lewis in Cardiff.

Bruno finally got his hands on the world title in his fourth attempt. He beat Oliver McCall by unanimous decision at Wembley Stadium in September 1995. But his reign was short-lived. In his first title defense, Mike Tyson knocked him out in the third round, which turned out to be Bruno's last professional fight.

When asked about Tyson and Lewis, Bruno didn't hold back. He told Ring Magazine:

"Tyson had it all. The hunger to win the belts, to fight, to move and determination to take anybody down that crossed him at his peak. He knew the quicker he could get rid of his opponent the less chance he would get caught and he was determined to get rid of his opponents quickly."

Bruno doubled down on his opinion in an interview with Max Boxing, saying:

"I boxed Tyson twice and I boxed Lennox Lewis, and I would rather box Lennox Lewis five days a week than to fight a Mike Tyson. He's awkward, short, dangerous, and when he's fit, he's very dangerous."

Bruno's preference for Tyson comes despite Lewis winning their 2002 fight by knockout in the eighth round.

Right now, Tyson is getting ready for a controversial fight with Jake Paul. Lewis has already shared what he thinks about the match-up.
