Gervonta Davis and Lamont Roach Jr might not get back in the ring for a rematch anytime soon. Roach's father and trainer says they haven't heard anything about a new date for the fight.

The two boxers first met in a bout for the WBA Lightweight World Title that ended in a majority draw. That fight had its share of drama. In the ninth round, Davis took a knee and went to his corner. The referee, Steve Willis, didn't call it a knockdown. If he had, Davis might have lost for the first time in his career.

After that, there was talk about a rematch happening this month. But now, it's not looking likely. Lamont Roach Sr, who trains his son, told YouTube:

"We ain't heard nothing about no later date yet. We was told it could get pushed back a week or two, but then that went away too. It pretty much wasn't happening right then."

The Roach team isn't just sitting around waiting. They're keeping ready for any chance that comes their way. Roach Sr explained:

"You just can't rush into nothing. You got to see what's out there, what's the best path going forward. We've just got to be patient and make the next move one of your best … We're staying ready for anything so if they come back and say we've got this, or this date available, we're not too far. We can't peak too much. It's a tricky situation, it's tough, going from one of the biggest fights in boxing to the unknown."

Roach Sr doesn't think the rematch will happen anytime soon:

"I mean, I don't see it happening no time soon this year unless something dramatic happens, or there would've been a date out there by now. We'll see. You never know. All [Davis'] details, what's going on with him – it ain't nobody's business to know everything that's going on in his personal life, but it did affect us so we do need to know our path. It's tough, but we're dealing with it."

Davis has been quiet lately. Jake Paul and Manny Pacquiao have called him out, but he hasn't responded. Hall of Famer Tim Bradley even suggested Davis might have given up on boxing.

Adding to the uncertainty, Davis got arrested last month in Miami on a battery charge. This legal trouble might be affecting his boxing plans.

For now, fans will have to wait and see if Davis and Roach Jr will step into the ring again.
