Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez and Terence Crawford might face off in a big fight soon. But not everyone thinks it's a good idea.
Joel Diaz, a well-known boxing trainer, doesn't believe Crawford can beat Canelo. He told AgainsttheRopes that the idea is "stupid."
Diaz points out that Crawford will have to move up two weight classes for this fight. That's a big jump. He says Crawford couldn't even dominate Israil Madrimov at 154 pounds. So how can he beat Canelo at 168?
The trainer also thinks Canelo's style will be too much for Crawford. Madrimov was careful and used a lot of feints. But Canelo is different. He's aggressive and looks for knockouts.
Some people compare this potential fight to when Floyd Mayweather beat Canelo. But Diaz says that's not fair. That fight happened over 10 years ago. Mayweather was at his best then, and Canelo was younger and less experienced.
Now, things are different. Crawford is older and slower. Canelo, on the other hand, is at his strongest and smartest.
Diaz believes Canelo's size, power, and experience will be too much for Crawford to handle. He thinks the Mexican champion is just too good right now.
We'll have to wait and see if this fight actually happens. But if it does, it looks like Crawford will have a tough challenge ahead of him.
