Tony Belew in an interview published on the JOE channel, admitted that he had changed his preference for a heavyweight title fight between Tyson Fury (33-0-1, 24 KOs) and Oleksandr Usyk (20-0, 13 KOs), which is tentatively scheduled for April 29.
“Until now, I thought that Fury would be too big, but the closer we get to the fight, the more I lean towards Usyk winning. I think that only Usyk himself is capable of defeating him, ”said the former rival of the Ukrainian.
“Tyson Fury has changed his boxing style significantly under Sugar Hill. He doesn't box anymore, he goes forward, counterattacks and acts aggressively. This is one of the best transformations I have ever seen. The problem, however, is that with such dimensions and weight, he will always be one step behind Usyk. Usyk has the best footwork in the world, it's exceptional," Belew said.
“I understand that Fury is the favorite, but if anyone beats him, it’s Usyk, because he is fast enough to keep the whole fight at a high pace. He is also quite strong and smart. Fury himself once admitted that the fight with heavyweight Steve Cunningham was the hardest for him. And if you find Cunningham's style difficult, wait until you enter the ring with Usyk!" Bellew added.
