Kevin Lerena (31-4, 15 KO) announced his intention to take a long break from boxing after losing to Lawrence Okolie in a recent fight for the WBC Silver World Heavyweight Championship in London.
“It was a tough fight. It’s time for a well-deserved rest, spending time with family and reflecting,” said the South African boxer to The Star. “I still believe I can do a lot, but right now I want to recover physically and mentally.”
Lerena will soon have to inform the WBC in which weight category he intends to continue his career. He still holds the world championship title in the bridger weight, but his last fight was in the heavyweight division. If he decides to stay in the heavyweight division, the bridger weight championship title will automatically become vacant.
