The legendary Lewis explained why the rematch with Klitschko did not take place

"It could be this. I agreed to the Klitschko fight to push back my retirement. He was always supposed to be my last fight. I thought about fighting him again, but stuck to the original plan," Lewis wrote on his social media account X.

The fight between Lewis and Klitschko took place in June 2003 and ended with the Briton winning by TKO in the sixth round. At the time the fight was stopped due to a serious dissection in Vitali, he was leading on the judges' scorecards.
