UFC middleweight Roman Dolidze named the fighter who will become the first UFC champion representing Georgia. According to Dolidze, this fighter will be Ilia Topuria.
“Elijah is young and hungry. He wants to win. Everything is going well for him, and he is moving rapidly upward. I think the UFC is happy for Ilya to be a champion. He has everything to win this fight. Ilia fights very well, there is strength in his hands, so I think in February we will have a new champion and the first belt in Georgia.”
On February 17, Topuria will fight with current UFC featherweight champion Alex Volkanovski. This fight will headline the organization's 298th tournament.
